I haven’t played Golf now for about 10 days which could be some sort of record for me. Together with other commitments, the weather has been mostly to blame but the forecast for next week looks encouraging. I’m keen to get back out there because now I’ll be carrying two new clubs in the bag; my Loft Wedge and new Driver.
After much research, consideration and soul searching, I opted for the King Cobra F-Speed Driver. The decision in the end was heavily influenced by the Cobra 3 Wood, which I have enjoyed recent success with. First time at the range though I got quite a shock when using it. Rather than the more usual metallic, ping you associate with a Driver as it makes contact with the ball, this thing sounds like a fire-cracker! In the confines of a driving bay, hitting ball after ball, it gets quite obtrusive.
On the up-side though I was hitting the ball further (and straighter) than I have ever done. In fact on a handful of occasions I cleared the netting at the back of the range which I’ve never achieved before. Pity the poor person who had to collect the balls. If I can transfer anything like this success on to the course then I’ll have a firm foundation to build a better score on.
My copy of ‘Extraordinary Golf’ arrived and I’m enjoying the read so far.
This week’s site of the week is www.putting-greens.com. It’s an on-line community for backyard golf green enthusiasts. The site includes Putting Green photos from around the world and you can even purchase turf maintenance gear – happy days!. If only my backyard were that big!
