Monty’s Stressful Life

Colin Montgomerie says that a stress free life has added 10 yards to his drive. Speaking before the Johnnie Walker Classic at the Blue Canyon Country Club on Phuket, Monty explained that a total absence of stress in his life had allowed him to put his back into the swing and turning his shoulders, rather than just tilting. Apparently, in the past stress would manifest itself by physically restricting his mobility. I know that Monty went through a messy divorce but still, I wouldn’t mind swapping my life for his ’stressful’ one. All this was reported as he fed Yum Yum the elephant, another banana - good work if you can get it!
A little closer to home, I decided that I would pay some attention to the mental side of my game, and on the advice of The Artful Golfer I ordered a copy of the,’Extraordinary Golfer’, by Fred Shoemaker. Sounds a bit Zen, but as long as I’m not expected to chant mantra’s while in the Cobra pose and New Age Music in the background, then I’ll approach it with an open mind.
Hopefully this self-knowledge and new skills will lead to a much better way to improve, rather than obsessing about improving. I’ll empty my thoughts and mind to achieve total consciousness….and curb the swearing as I shank another.

Got something to say?

Don’t knock the man. I happen to think he has a very good swing. Although he has always fought his inner demons for quite a while now! I think he might still get a major, as long as he stays women free!
Monty beleives he can make a return to the world’s top ten this year, so we’ll have to see….but I don’t think he mentioned anything about women though.
