In case you weren’t aware (which is unlikely!) the 72nd US Masters begins on Thursday at the Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia. Tiger Woods is the odds-on favorite to be wearing a 42″ long, green jacket on Sunday evening – the fifth of his career. This is despite having only won once since 2002, but such is the form of the man right now that even the bookies are running scared. Woods strode into town on Sunday and is the master of all the courses he surveys as he begins his assault on winning all four majors in a calendar year.
Augusta National has to be one of the best looking courses for the TV viewing public and I understand that it looks even more breathtaking in real life; perfectly manicured and rich in color. After a magnificent start to the year Woods is chasing his 14th Major. I’ve yet to read an interview where a fellow player genuinely believes he can beat Woods, such are they gushing in their praise for the man. It’s as if Woods has won the event, before he’s even started. Golf of course is never like that and it’s the unpredictability which makes it the game it is – but it would be a brave person to bet against another Woods victory.
Need a Coffee Break?
For those of you who have cancelled all tee times this weekend to enjoy the Masters, but still can’t get enough, you might like to try this rather addictive putting game. I was distressed to find that my virtual putting is as shockingly bad as my real world efforts.
…..and Lastly
Does someone know something which I’ve missed? I was amused to find a visitor had found their way to this site via the search string, “ernie els” “drinking problem”. I’m guessing this is because Ernie pulled out of the $5.8-million PGA Tour event at Bay Hill in Orlando, citing “exhaustion” and saying he wanted to save himself for the Masters. I’m not sure when ‘exhaustion’ became a euphemism for ‘drink problem’!Â
Also, I’m not quite sure why Google saw fit to route the enquiry to this site, but I guess I must have mentioned Ernie Els and John Daly in the same sentence – oops I’ve done it again! (Google – please ignore).
